On July 4 the Spanish Official Gazette published the Financial Act for 2018. Among other news, an improved tax regime was introduced in connection with the operation of online gambling activities in Spain. As expected for a long time by the industry, the Act includes the reduction of the gambling tax, which rate –for most of the games- is reduced from 25% to 20%, as well as additional features such as an additional reduction for companies located in the autonomous cities of Ceuta or Melilla.

These changes are effective since July 1 and will be relevant for both new entrants and companies already present in the Spanish online gambling market.
